History in the Making

Today August 28,2008 our nation is at a turning point in history the insufficient funds check Dr.Martin Luther King spoke of in his famous "I Have a Dream" speech (delivered forty five years ago today,) is finally starting to see a growing balance.

Our nation and the world will witness history in the making where a man who has mixed heritage from Kenya Africa and Kansas in the United States will accept the nomination of the Democratic Party . He is the representative of thousands if not millions of hopes and dreams of those men and women who have hoped and prayed that the day would come when the United State of America would start to view African Americans as integral part of her history and start to reject the racial prejudice that has for so long been an enigma to our nation and many other countries in the world.

I know my paternal great grandmother who was born a slave before the Civil War in 1860 had never thought that in her great grandsons life he would witness an African American as a true viable candidate for the highest office in the land of her birth. My father (her grandson) passed away just three years shy of this historical event . He was alive and able to view Barack Obama great speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention.

I have decided that I will embrace this moment with my wife and two children by my side we will share this occasion with strangers and (hopefully new friends) at a local restaurant, but I will have more to think about when I consider this moment in our nations history and consider the great cloud of witnesses who are looking over heavens walls and maybe one of those thousands upon thousands will look to , Martin , Coretta , Yolanda, and say "Your Dream is on its way to fulfillment. "
